ARTISTS & BANDS UK based up & coming rock band, The Favours, fronted by lead vocal & guitarist Sara Sanchez & accompanied by Martin Knight - Bass and Backing Vocals; Mister Nivelles - Drums; Paul Burton - Guitar and Backing Vocals are currently band of the week on BBC television. Their tune Islands is making waves.

The band has performed at the Electric Proms in Camden between Roundhouse & Barfly last month.

In August 2006, The Favours were selected to be one of the Next Stage artists at the BBC's Electric Proms Festival by BBC Radio Humberside's Raw Talent show. As part of this event the BBC arranged for the band to make their first ever video.

Also, the BBC are currently running a 'this is what we do' advert about The Favours on BBC1, 2, 3 and 4. It's only 40seconds long, but still manages to fit in pictures from the bands early days, along with clips of us on BBC Radio Humberside's Raw Talent show, making the 'Islands' Video and playing last weekends BBC Electric Proms festival.

ARTISTS & BANDS Elixir - Rock Band - Birmingham, UK

BIOGRAPHY

Elixir are a melodic rock band from Birmingham, U.K based around the Tierney brothers P.J 18 years old, John (16) and Paul (15). Their influences are varied and include Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, U2 and The Beatles. Joined by friend Dan Clark they formed Elixir in 2001, recording their first CD in 2002. A year later they recorded their second CD at Birmingham's Dep International and attracted interest from the music press.

2004 saw Elixir gigging regularly and building up strong, local support. They featured on BBC Radio, appeared on Central Television News and were invited to test the BBC's sound equipment at their new home at the Mailbox in Birmingham. The highlight of the year however, was securing a support slot at Sandwell Festival in May. The festival was organised by Sandwell Council in conjunction with Beacon Radio and Elixir were chosen as one of seven unsigned bands to support acts such as McFly, Liberty X and Big Brovaz. Around 30,000 people attended the festival and since this event, hits on the band's website have rocketed to over 70,000.

Elixir spent the summer writing new material, and in October 2004 recorded 6 tracks at Mad Hat Studios in Wolverhampton. The Times Change EP has attracted widespread attention from the music industry inviting such comments as: ‘Elixir: stunning vocals, raw guitars and punchy drums. When performed by such a youthful and impressive outfit, this material could be massive Stateside. It is destined for major attention.’ MUSICIAN MAGAZINE 'Melodic rock that the likes of many of the US huge names produce' MANILLA MAGAZINE 'John Tierney has an extraordinary blues drawl. . .worth keeping an ear out in a few years for that voice' PLANET ROCK CHANNEL 4 and 'They’re not your average Blink 182 copyists, eschewing the norm in favour of a more epic, prog approach…' NME

For 2005 Elixir have secured slots at Rockinbeerfest Festival 2005 and Fill Your Head With Rock International Charity Festival Event. They are now promoting their new CD and merchandise and are planning a tour as well as more festival dates.

‘Times Change captures their spirit for wide, sweeping accessible rock…
ideal for stirring festival audiences and contemporary radio listeners alike.’
